A Birthday Reflection From Our Founder

It seems customary for these types of posts to rattle off the list of gongs and awards that we’ve garnered over the years, but that’s not in our nature. Instead, I wanted to mark this anniversary with a celebration of what is most important to our business, and to me.

Our People.

I have an enormous debt of gratitude to the fantastic people who have worked for this business over these years, who have imagined, envisioned, created and delivered the most amazing projects.

You made Material the “Best Small Place to Work” in the UK.

It also gives me a great sense of pride that a small independent agency has provided access for young Scottish talent to some of the most incredible projects in the world.

Did you fancy working on the MTV Awards and the best Afterparty Edinburgh has ever seen? Or co-ordinate the Olympic Torch Relay? Did you ever want to work on the world’s most successful festival partnership, T in the Park? Fancy delivering COP26 for the UK Govt.? Jump on a plane to Singapore for the world’s first global Social Media Awards? Open Scotland’s Home of Live Entertainment? Sit in the dugout at the Six Nations? Take the Women’s FA Cup to Wembley? Put on a Celtic v Rangers game in George Square? There are, quite literally, too many examples to mention.

Talented people and hard work have realised these opportunities.

Material is truly the sum of its parts.

So, to everyone who has been through the doors over these 21 years, we wish you all continued success and raise a glass to you today.
