Modernising a National Legacy: The Scottish FA Rebrand
The background
Following a competitive UK-wide pitch, we were appointed to undertake a corporate rebrand for the Scottish FA, the second oldest national football association in the world.
The brief
The brief called for evolution, not revolution – our development work sought to find a solution that paid respect to the Association’s established history and the crest’s heritage, retaining key components whilst bringing them into a contemporary fold.
What we did
We collaborated closely with the Scottish FA team and key stakeholders, testing various design directions to find the perfect balance between tradition and modernity. This process involved working with the Court of the Lord Lyon, the official body governing heraldry in Scotland, to ensure our design adhered to legal and historical guidelines.
The result was a revitalised crest and set of brand guidelines that modernised the Scottish FA’s identity while respecting its storied legacy. The crest adorns the chest of the National teams and Scotland fans across the world.
