Shining a light on stories of adversity, perseverance and hope told by those living with Endometriosis
The background
Standard Life is a UK-based financial services company that provides pensions, savings, and retirement solutions. As a company trusted by millions to look after their money, Standard Life recognises the important role it plays in the life of working people in the UK.
The brief
With Standard Life enjoying high awareness but little in the way of emotional connection with consumers, we were engaged to support the brand in establishing partnerships that would mean more to its customers and colleagues.
What we did
Having decided to shine a light on conditions neglected in many areas of society – including the workplace – we helped to forge a first partnership with charity Endometriosis UK. The resulting campaign, Beyond the Invisible, explored the invisible illness through the real-life stories of those living with the condition.
The campaign was spearheaded by a photography and film-led exhibition in collaboration with world-renowned photographer Rankin, which harnessed the power of AR technology to ‘unlock’ stories of adversity, perseverance and hope behind beautiful portraits of those suffering from Endometriosis. The campaign delivered extensive media coverage and social conversation, taking Endometriosis from the margins into the mainstream and placing it at the forefront of the public’s consciousness.
Consequently, a workplace charter, to better support those living and working with the condition, was created and adopted by over 20 organisations across the UK. The campaign won best in class in the Game Changer Category at the 2020 European Sponsorship Awards.
