Agents of Positive Change
Environmental Sustainability & Social Impact are the imperatives of our time. Since 2007, Material has helped clients overcome environmental challenges and produce powerful work with positive impacts in this space.
From enabling the world’s first major carbon neutral festival, to being appointed Creative Lead in the delivery of COP26s Green Zone, to planning and managing a new Social and Environmental Sustainability & Communications Strategy for the most valuable spirit in the world.
Change That Starts Here
Our responsibility starts here, at Material. In ensuring that our social impact and environmental responsibility is central to who we are as a team of people, the decisions we make individually and collectively, in the way we operate and the influence we can have.
SME Climate Hub Signatories: By the end of 2022 – in keeping with our role as a signatory of the SME Climate Hub – we will have completed our own full-scope carbon footprint analysis and will have published Material’s Net Zero 2030 Strategy along with our emissions disclosures, reductions targets and the associated policies and practices we will embed across our business to achieve these.
Sustainability Action Group: In 2019, Material established an internal Sustainability Action Group, addressing the issues of environmental impact from the inside out. To date, our group have:
i. Undertaken Carbon Literacy Training – ensuring we understand emissions scope classifications, areas of key material emissions for businesses and how to directly take positive action from both a personal and corporate standpoint to reduce our emissions
ii. Completed a Circular Glasgow Circular Economy Workshop highlighting the positive impact a circular economy approach can have not only on how we approach our own business, but also our supply chain and ways of working with our clients and other stakeholders and the consumers and audiences who are engaged directly in the work and events that we produce
We are also in the process of applying for B-Corp status, a process we feel is essential to continually hold our business operation to the highest recognised independent standards.
Over the years, key team members within Material have developed a keen interest, knowledge and passion across specific areas of social, circular and environmental practices. We understand that as communication specialists, a key asset we have is that of Positive Influence – the ability to positively influence the decisions that others make by sharing as we learn.
We are always open to sharing this knowledge and warmly welcome the opportunity of discussions or questions at any time. Get in touch anytime if this also interests you.
